Smashing slate
A better week at work this week. Helped by being shorter (the week, not me) and by the fact that we were released early as a thankyou for all the hard work put in recently. So, having decided to stock up on car washing materials because my originally bright yellow car is now looking a lot closer to black I pootled off to find some. Ended up buying a pressure washer with the idea that I can also use it to clean my patio.
Let me say now I live in a tiny flat, but what sold it to me was the fact that it's on the ground floor and has it's own garden space. Not a big space but enough. When I first looked at the flat the garden was fabulous, but I've never been a gardener and so over the years I've been here it's deteriorated badly. Towards the end of last year I therefore took the step of getting someone in to clear the small very overgrown space and lay down a membrane to stop all the weeds coming through. This was soon followed by the kind delivery from one of the guys at work of a load of slate roof tiles that I could use to break up to cover the membrane. And there they all sat.
Until today, when I decided the time had come to do something with the tiles. I therefore spent the latter part of this afternoon smashing slate roof tiles. I can recommend it as a great stress reliever. I haven't finished yet as it was quite hard work for a very unfit person, and I also developed a nice blister which burst on the inside of my thumb. Don't think I've got quite enough tiles to cover the whole of the area so the current plan is to go and get hold of some more slate scree tomorrow to mix in. I still have a few tiles left to smash though and am quite looking forward to it.
The pressure washer etc. are still in the car boot though. I hope I get round to getting them out and using them before next year!
Will post pics when I find the battery charger for my camera.

Better do better
Came in tonight after a pleasant night out to find thudding bass bouncing down from upstairs. So, connected the PC to the stereo, doesn't take a lot of effort, and started blasting out tracks in revenge. Then I hit Hard-Fi (a fairly local group), worked my way through a few tracks and got to Better Do Better. It brought back a load of old feelings from very many years ago (I am long past them but must admit I do still have that bitter feeling and a huge lack of trust). It's nice to know that guys feel the same way too though - I was just up to blaming them for everything. Anyway, the track can be found here (at the time of posting you'll hit a track called Living For The Weekend - which I love too, Better Do Better is at the bottom of the list), and the lyrics are below.
You're back, sitting on my doorstep
ah yeah like nothing happened
telling me that that you're free and oh
can you see me again?
Yeah right, you've been kicked out
do you think I'm that stupid?
You say you're free but didn't he just oh oh oh
get tired of you kid
I could not eat for days
I cried so much my face
has never been the same and
and now you're back here with your lies
I hope you realise
[chorus]
You think I'm gonna take you back
you'd better do better than that
I'll tell ya how it's gonna be
don't you never ever come near me
let me tell you how I've been
I've been hiding from my friends
hiding from the world
hiding from myself
you think you'll come round here
start singing in my ear
girl you damaged me
I don't forgive so easily
you better do better than that
Your face makes me want to be sick
ah yeah it's a physical reaction
you'd better leave 'cause you see I
can't - won't be blamed for my actions
oh oh, how I ever loved you
so dumb, how did I ever trust you?
But you and he laughed at me, oh yeah yeah
when you laid together
I could not eat for days
I cried so much my face
has never been the same and
and now you're back here with your lies
I hope you realise
[chorus]
I gave you everything I had girl
but you had to, try and take some more
you went behind my back girl
cheated on me, I was the last to know
did everything we have girl
meant nothing to ya
well I was such a fool
now you come crawling back girl
well let me tell ya, I am through with you
I'm back up off the floor
and I won't get hurt no more
an' I've been waiting for this day when
you'll be back here with your lies
I hope you realise
[chorus]
Say something, say something
say something, say something
You'd better do better than that!

Code of conduct for bloggers?
I've only recently discovered the joys of blogs and since I did have spent a lot of time browsing through various variations of these. Everyone seems to be very friendly and it can be a pleasant way of whiling away the lunch hour.
When I read about Kathy Sierra and the comments that had been posted on both her blog and others it made me angry. Why oh why do people have to be so abusive?
I do not understand the mentality of people who feel the urge to do such a thing. It's not big and it's not clever. It doesn't make you look cool. If you don't like what you are reading go and read something else.
Anyway, rant over for the day.
Edit: Having ranted and knowing some of you may have followed the links I posted I thought I ought to add a bit here. Chris Locke who is also known as RageBoy has a response on his site. He seems a reasonable guy, who admittedly doesn't like Kathy. I don't believe he has posted any of the extremely derogatory comments that can be seen, and he has done the courtesy of taking down the sites where stuff was posted. I just feel that overall it's a shame that the only way round this seems to be some sort of censorship such as applying comment moderation on all blog sites. I also have to say that that wouldn't stop the site hosters receiveng abusive comments. What can be done?

Not Good
I think I'm going to give up here for a while. I'm having far more fun reading everyone else's blogs!
When I sort out my photo retrieval, or get wound up about something, I'll be back!

Kiss that Frog
Not sure why but this track popped into my head the other day. Been singing it to myself ever since. It's Peter Gabriel (he's from my neck of the woods these days) with Kiss That Frog.
The You Tube version that I've found has a Farscape video accompanying it, not quite how I visualised it but the only rendition I found that met the audio version I remember so well.
As a female it makes me think of so many cheesy chat up lines, and it's rude (or is that just my mind playing up again?) but I played it sooooo many times, with a big grin on my face.
Anyway, that's my latest music post - hope you enjoyed the track.
